About Us

Neelavarana is an Ambedkarite artists forum dedicated to promoting Bahujan artists in Kannada. We are a collective of filmmakers, writers, artists, actors, and musicians who aim to create a platform for the voices of the marginalized communities.

Our Vision

In the Kannada art scene, there is a visible lack of diversity in terms of caste, class and gender. People with caste and class capital have a monopoly over the kind of art that is being produced. They have easily accessible resources that can help them produce content. People from the Bahujan communities have no means of telling their stories due to lack of networks and resources.

The intent of our collective is to create a pool of artists and technicians who can collaborate on projects and help each other out.

Our vision is to help create meaningful art that is progressive, inclusive and intersectional. Neelavarana acts as a network we can access to collaborate and create our art. This is a conscious movement to give a voice to Bahujans.
